Approach
My therapeutic approach is integrative, with Schema Therapy forming the foundation of my work. Schema Therapy helps heal unhelpful patterns and old emotional wounds, while also strengthening your “Healthy Adult” - the part of you that looks after yourself, makes good choices, and helps you handle life in a calm and balanced way. I also draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Interpersonal Therapy, Attachment-Based Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Somatic Therapy to best support each person’s needs. While these approaches guide my practice, I believe the most important part of therapy is the relationship itself. Above all, I strive to create a safe, supportive, and trusting space where healing, growth, and lasting change can happen.

I have become increasingly aware of the powerful connection between the mind and body in the treatment of mental health. Many of my clients will often say things such as “logically I get that my thoughts are irrational and can challenge them intellectually, but I don’t feel this change in my body”. I really understand and relate to this, which is why I began integrating somatic approaches into my work. Somatic approaches focus on the body as well as the mind, helping people connect emotions with physical sensations so that healing can be felt, and not just thought about. Many clients often report feeling “lighter” in their body after sessions, a reflection of what can shift when both mind and body are cared for together.

One somatic approach I often use is “Imagery Rescripting”, a technique adapted from Schema Therapy. This approach gently supports people in revisiting difficult or traumatic memories and experiences that may still affect them today. By shifting how these memories and experiences are held in the body and mind, many clients notice a greater sense of calm, lightness in their body, security, and an overall greater sense of peace well-being.
